5 ways to celebrate World Book Day at home.

by Anna C 15 Apr 2020 0 Comments

Books have always been my go-to friends in times of stress and need. They're the constant companion that let me explore the world from the comfort of my sofa, or make new and fierce friends without needing to worry about my social awkwardness.

Books have always been there for me, no matter what. Even though we're all staying home right now, that doesn't mean we have to miss out on celebrating our love of words.

  1. Dress up as your favourite character.

Channel your inner child and dress up as your favourite book character. Then once you're all dolled up, you can take your bin out so all your neighbours can see your fantastic costume (while they watch confused from behind the curtains).

Maybe you could even turn it into a whole street (distancing) event! Don't forget to take a photo and post it to my new favourite social media group.

  1. Pitch a tent in your backyard to read ghost stories.

There's nothing quite like holding a torch under your chin as you tell a scary story to friends. So why not recreate that feeling by scaring yourself? Pitch a tent in your yard and read your favourite true crime or Stephen King book surrounded by the sounds of nature.

If you're anything like me, you'll be back inside as soon as you hear rustling in the bushes, but hey, at least you'll get to warm up with a nice hot cup of tea and sleep in your own comfy bed.

  1. Borrow an ebook from your local library.

Is there any place more magical than a library? Free books as far as the eye can see! Even though they're closed, you can still borrow by checking out some of the latest newly released ebooks.

Sure, they don't quite have the same appeal as holding a beautiful new-smelling book in your hand, but you'll be supporting your local library too.

  1. Host a (virtual) book club.

Grab a bottle of wine and set up a zoom with all your bookish people. You can chat about your most recent reads or maybe revisit some of your favourite go-to novels. But don't forget the wine or my invite!

  1. Grab yourself the latest Jubly-Umph pin.

Yes, that's right! How could I not make a unique limited edition pin for World Book Day?

If you're like me and love hunkering down with a nice juicy fat book, then this pin is perfect for you!

Best of all, it's completely FREE with any order over $50! Get in quick as there are only 200 pins, and once they're gone…. They're gone for good. Click HERE to grab the pin!

Stay safe and look after yourself,

Lots of love from Tasha and the Jubly crew XX
